Opera at Lismore Castle

The great thing about making marmalade everyday is that it encourages one to take the air. So I try as often as possible to take the dogs on  a walk to The Towers which is a few minutes on the Ballyduff Road or crossing the river to Lismore Castle which is only a few minutes walking the other way. This photograph was taken from the  famous bridge. How it manages the sheer weight of the heavy lorries which cross everyday is a wonder of early engineering. Yesterday as I walked over and looked up at the majestic Castle in the winter sunshine I was reminded that there will be another  Lismore Opera Festival in the Castle this Summer. It was absolutely superb last year. This year the programme is L’Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti which is wonderful. We first heard it at the Wexford Opera Festival several years ago. img_0521-1
